Abkhazia: President Resigns

The Prime Minister of the Republic, Alexander Ankvab, is also leaving his post, Orda.kz reports, citing Interfax.
This is stated in the protocol that the republic’s authorities and the opposition signed following the negotiations.

According to the Constitution of Abkhazia, Vice President Badra Gunba will become acting president, and Valery Bganba, who previously held this post, will become acting prime minister.
In order to maintain stability and constitutional order in the country, in accordance with Article 63 of the Constitution of the Republic of Abkhazia, I resign from the post of President of the Republic of Abkhazia, Bzhania’s statement addressed to the speaker of parliament says.
