Wife of Convicted Police Chief Under Investigation

The wife of Marat Kushtybaev, the former Taldykorgan police chief convicted of sexual assault, is under investigation, Orda.kz reports.
The woman is suspected of attempting to bribe the victim in the case involving Kushtybaev.
In relation to the wife of the former head of the Taldykorgan city police department, Kushtybaev, on the fact of bribing the victim to give false testimony in a criminal case of sexual assault,
The Anti-corruption service's official representative Daniyar Bigaidarov stated at a June 30 briefing.
He declined to provide further details, citing investigative secrecy.
Earlier, Orda.kz reported that Kushtybaev’s wife had handed 40 million tenge to a court secretary in an attempt to influence the verdict. The money was allegedly intended to persuade the victim to recant her testimony.
The attempt failed, and Kushtybaev was sentenced to 11 years in prison.
