Upcoming Tax Changes: Who Might Pay Less in VAT?

The discussion on value-added tax (VAT) reform has now reached the Majilis. Vice Minister of National Economy Azamat Amrin addressed the deputies on the matter, Orda.kz reports.
Previously, the government announced plans to exempt farmers from VAT and proposed lowering the rate to 10% for the healthcare sector.
However, according to Amrin’s presentation, other industries may also benefit:
- IT
- Tourism
- Creative industries
- Food products
Additionally, the new Tax Code draft includes a potential VAT exemption for the media.
