Commenting on the provisions of Kazakhstan’s draft new Constitution, UNICEF said that protecting children in the digital environment should become one of the key areas of legal policy, Orda.kz reports.

The organization noted that the development of the internet and digital services provides new opportunities for children to learn and communicate, but also increases the number of risks, ranging from the незаконного use of personal data to various forms of online violence.

Experts paid special attention to the rapid development of artificial intelligence and generative technologies, which highlights the need for the systematic protection of minors' personal information.

As part of its cooperation with state bodies, UNICEF presented analytical materials and comments on the updated draft Constitution. Particular emphasis was placed on provisions concerning children's rights and the protection of childhood.

The online space should be safe for every child. The rights of the child do not end where the internet begins. the organization said.

UNICEF added that, as the country's basic law, the Constitution forms the legal basis for protecting children's rights and well-being, regardless of their region of residence or social status.

The organization also expressed its readiness to continue supporting initiatives aimed at creating a safe digital environment for children in Kazakhstan.
