Nurali Aliyev, grandson of Nursultan Nazarbayev, received significant dividends from JSC Transtelecom just before announcing his departure, reports Orda.kz.
On February 12, Aliyev announced plans to sell his stake in Transtelecom.
The same day, the company disclosed its decision to distribute dividends for 2023, as documented on the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE) website.
The company paid out six billion tenge in dividends on January 31.
Shareholders who owned stock as of January 27 received approximately 4.5 billion tenge (1064.19 tenge per common share), with remaining payments scheduled for later.
At the time, Aliyev and Dmitry Kupochev controlled 75% of Transtelecom's shares through Unit Telecom LLP.
Following Aliyev's announcement, Dmitry Pokupatev replaced him as chair of the board of directors.
Additionally, three Jusan Mobile representatives were appointed to the board, replacing two existing members.
Jusan Mobile is controlled by Galimzhan Yessenov, the current owner of Jusan Bank, through JV Holding Ltd.
With Kazakhstan's wealthiest businessman, Vyacheslav Kim, confirming his intention to acquire Jusan Bank, Yessenov might be considering purchasing Aliyev's stake in Transtelecom as an alternative asset.
