Tyumen customs officers intercepted a vehicle at the Russian-Kazakh border carrying a large shipment of undeclared electronics, Orda.kzreports.

According to the Federal Customs Service of Russia (FCS), there was an attempt to smuggle the goods into Russia without proper customs declaration documents.

Customs officers discovered a large shipment of electronics with signs of illegal importation in a vehicle traveling from Kazakhstan. The electronic devices included laptops, VR glasses, smartwatches, headphones, and other accessories from popular foreign brands. According to the shipping documents, the goods were destined for recipients in Moscow. The total value of the equipment exceeds 30 million rubles (about 204 million tenge),
 The FCS reported.

Earlier, Kazakhstan’s Minister of National Economy Serik Zhumangarin discussed the issue of “gray imports” and border congestion with Russian Ambassador Alexey Borodavkin. Kazakhstani transport companies have complained about delays and being listed in Russia’s “Register of Controlled Persons.”

It was later announced that professional drivers from Kazakhstan would be exempt from the 90-day-per-year stay limit in Russia. Majilis deputy Bolatbek Aliyev said the decision saved thousands of jobs and helped prevent the deportation of international drivers.
