Relative of Former Akim Danial Akhmetov Temporarily Appointed to Head Kazakh Railways

A relative of ex-East Kazakhstan Akim Danial Akhmetov has taken over as acting head of Kazakhstan Temir Joly (KTZ), Orda.kz reports.
Following the appointment of former KTZ chair Nurlan Sauranbayev as Minister of Transport, the position was temporarily filled by Yerlan Koishibayev, who had served as deputy chair for logistics since 2021.
In accordance with internal regulations, the Deputy Chair of the Board for Logistics is temporarily acting as the head of KTZ, Yerlan Koishibayev,
the company said in response to an inquiry from Orda.kz.
Koishibayev is married to Adelia Akhmetova, daughter of former akim Danial Akhmetov.
In 2022, Koishibayev’s name surfaced in an open letter sent by KTZ employees to the president, accusing management of corruption and embezzlement. They claimed more than six billion tenge in damage to the state.
Earlier, Orda.kz reported that Adelia Akhmetova is linked through her husband to several prominent joint-stock companies and has engaged in charity work alongside Aida Aliyeva, wife of Nurali Aliyev.
