Public Service Centres to Go Private

Entrepreneurs can now open public service centers. "Government for Citizens" has decided to transfer some functions to the private sector. Businesses can apply for partnership, Orda.kz reports, citing the press service of the state corporation.
Previously, only banks, Kazpost, and certain notaries could open the centers. They were not inclined to open them in rural areas, forcing residents of remote settlements to travel to district centers or cities.
The state corporation emphasizes that partners will not have access to Kazakhstanis' personal data.
The Public Service Center will accept applications and issue documents through partners using its system. Partners will only be engaged in the acceptance and issuance, and government agencies will remain responsible for processing applications.
In 2023, employees of the Public Service Centers received a status similar to civil servants, with the right to perform state functions. These legislative changes increased their accountability.
