Following the Ukrainian drone attack on the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC), authorities are still unable to calculate the damage, Orda.kz reports.

This was announced by Kazakh Energy Minister Yerlan Akkenzhenov at a briefing in Astana.

He stated that a large hole measuring 2.5 by 3 meters had formed in the Single Point Mooring (SPM).

This puncture was caused by a targeted explosion at this facility. Divers are currently working to restore the buoyancy of this SPU. Next, we'll need to get inside the SPU and assess the damage to the process equipment. If we're successful in repairing it, SPU-2 will also be put back into operation,
 said the minister.

The ministry is currently attempting to deliver two new UAE-manufactured SPUs to the site. The initial delivery date was set for April 2026, but they are now pushing it back to January.

He also recalled that the consortium was created in accordance with international law and that its shareholders include companies from Europe, the United States, and Kazakhstan.

Only a small portion belongs to a Russian company. Therefore, in accordance with the political statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kazakhstan condemns such attacks on civilian critical infrastructure. We consider them unacceptable (...). I believe the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will comment on further developments. There can be no political statements from the Ministry of Energy. We are the body implementing energy policy,
 the minister added.

He also stated that Kazakhstan has alternative oil export routes in the event of continued attacks on the Caspian Pipeline Consortium infrastructure.
