More than 40 major leaks of personal data have been recorded in Kazakhstan since the start of 2025, largely due to employees selling client information, Orda.kz reports.
Deputy Head of the Interior Ministry’s Department for Combating Cybercrime, Beibit Birzhanov, identified the human factor as the main cause.
Today, the weakest link in the system is, unfortunately, the user – that is, the operator, the person who has access to personal data,
Birzhanov said at Kompraconf 2025.
He noted that investigations revealed the systemic problem.
Investigation of past violations shows that our employees of private organizations and companies, having access to personal data, sell the personal data they have for a price,
Birzhanov explained.
