Ukraine’s parliament has dismissed Justice Minister Herman Halushchenko following a major corruption scandal, reports Orda.kz.
A total of 323 lawmakers supported his removal. Both Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal’s request for Halushchenko’s dismissal and the minister’s own resignation letter were submitted to the Verkhovna Rada on November 12.
Halushchenko had led the Ministry of Justice since July 2025, having previously served as energy minister. His departure follows a criminal investigation launched under the large-scale anti-corruption operation known as Midas.
Investigators believe senior officials and associated businessmen exerted illicit influence over strategic state enterprises — including Energoatom — and received kickbacks of 10–15% from major contracts.
The case involves several figures, among them Ihor Mironyuk, a former adviser to the energy minister; Dmytro Basov, who previously headed security at Energoatom; businessman Timur Mindich; and several employees accused of laundering funds.
Two days after investigators conducted searches, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy moved to remove Halushchenko, and the Cabinet suspended him pending parliamentary approval.
In a separate vote, parliament also supported the dismissal of Energy Minister Svitlana Hrynchuk. According to Suspilne, 315 MPs voted in favor of her removal.
