Clashes Between Assad Supporters and New Government Forces in Syria

On March 6, 2025, Groups of Assad supporters attacked several checkpoints and patrols near the coastal city of Jableh, according to Mustafa Knefati, Director of the General Security Department of Latakia, Orda reports, citing SANA.
Responding, authorities deployed approximately 20 military vehicles to the region, as the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported. Syrian army helicopters and planes were also sent to the conflict zone.
During the confrontation, security services utilized missiles and drones.
SOHR reports that at least 71 people have been killed in the clashes, including 32 pro-Assad militiamen, 35 Syrian security personnel, and four civilians.
Demonstrations supporting the country's army occurred in several major Syrian cities, including Homs, Hama, and Daraa.
Syrian authorities have imposed a curfew in Latakia, Tartus, and Homs, while strengthening security measures in Damascus and other major cities.
