Antikor: Police Officer Fired Shot When Detained

Recently, two police officers were detained in the Jambyl region on suspicion of extorting bribes.
Orda.kz's correspondent learned the details.
Our sources say assistant district police officer Nurbol Karabekov and juvenile affairs inspector Yerbolat Orazbekov collected money from foreigners at the Aisha Bibi border post.
The amounts ranged from 500 to 1,000 tenge. Their responsibilities were unrelated to work at the border, but they may have decided to expand their scope. In addition, they used foreigners' trust.
Nurbol Karabekov worked in Jalpaqtobe, where the Dungan community lives. His colleague Yerbolat Orazbekov supervised local schools that dealt with juvenile delinquency prevention.
According to their colleagues, both were conscientious and did not notice anything suspicious.
Antikor employees made the arrest in Asa. Karabekov was found on duty. According to eyewitnesses, he managed to fire a shot into the air. Fortunately, no one was hurt, and the pistol was quickly taken.
