An expanded meeting of the Ministry of Education’s board was held in Astana. Participants summed up the results of 2025 and outlined upcoming reforms — from updating school curricula to launching training for teachers in artificial intelligence, Orda.kz reports.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Aida Balaeva, Minister of Education Zhuldyz Suleimenova, MPs, representatives of the scientific community, regional education officials, and teachers.

Despite rising student numbers, systemic problems remain in the sector. In this regard, the Deputy Prime Minister instructed the ministry to revise the strategy for preschool and primary education, adapt school programs to modern requirements, and strengthen efforts to improve the quality of teaching staff. She said the focus should shift to an individual approach, the development of critical thinking, and practical skills.

Among the new initiatives are updated teacher training in AI and the opening of specialized faculties at pedagogical universities. Reform of the TPO (technical and professional education) system was also discussed — including adjustments to funding, alignment with labour market needs, and the expansion of dual training.

A separate block was devoted to inclusive education. Participants proposed strengthening the training of specialists, introducing mandatory inclusion-related disciplines, and launching retraining programmes for teachers. Balaeva also instructed officials to revise approaches to textbook selection and strengthen educational work in schools.

At the meeting, Minister of Education Zhuldyz Suleimenova presented the ministry’s 2025 results and outlined key tasks for the coming period.
