The alleged murderers of former Kazakh judge Aigul Sailybayeva will most likely be tried in Russia, Orda.kz reports.
Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prosecutor General, Galymzhan Koigeldiev, said this procedure is established between the two countries.
«An international investigative request has been sent to the Russian Federation to determine the citizenship of both individuals. As you know, the Russian Federation, like us, does not extradite its own citizens. Once we have determined their citizenship, the criminal case will be transferred to the Russian side so that they (the alleged murderers — ed.) face the appropriate punishment. In addition, I read only a few days ago that the Chairman of the Investigative Committee, Mr. Bastrykin, has taken this case under his personal control,» Koigeldiyev said.
He added that the suspects have been put on a wanted list through Interpol channels.
