Criminal Case Opened Involving Nurlan Nigmatulin's Son

Nurzhan Nurlanov, son of former Majilis Chair Nurlan Nigmatulin and former director of the Baiterek holding and KazMunayGas-Aero LLP, has been accused of "Arbitrariness," Orda.kz reports.

The investigative department of the Almaty Police Department is conducting a pre-trial investigation under Article 389 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, 'Arbitrariness.' Currently, investigative actions are being carried out to ensure a comprehensive, full, and objective examination of the circumstances of the case. Other information is not subject to disclosure,
 the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported.

Previously, the anti-corruption agency put Arghyn Nigmatulin, former Saryarka Hockey Club LLP director, on the wanted list.

The Prosecutor General’s Office confirmed that a criminal case is being conducted against “A.Z. Nigmatulin and other individuals suspected of embezzling budget funds allocated for the development of hockey in the Qaraganda region.”

Yerlan Nigmatulin, the brother of Nurlan Nigmatulin, is suspected of extortion. He was previously a member of the lower and upper houses of parliament. In 2021, Forbes named him one of the most influential businessmen in Kazakhstan.
