Magzhan Ilyassov Appointed Kazakhstan’s Ambassador To The U.S.

President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev signed the decree appointing Magzhan Ilyassov as Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to the United States, Orda.kz reports.
Ilyassov, a 51-year-old native of Almaty, began his career as an assistant at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In the late 1990s, he coordinated international events involving Nursultan Nazarbayev.
From 2007 to 2012, he headed the Foreign Policy Center at the Presidential Administration, later serving as an adviser to the then-president. He began his ambassadorial service in 2016, representing Kazakhstan in the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Great Britain, and Northern Ireland.
Ilyassov’s predecessor was dismissed following President Toqayev’s recent visit to New York.
Yerzhan Ashikbayev has been appointed Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
