Kyrgyzstan May Dissolve Parliament

In Kyrgyzstan, deputies have begun collecting signatures for self-dissolution of the Jogorku Kenesh, Orda.kz reports, citing 24.kg.

The proposal for self-dissolution is expected to be announced soon.

Under the Constitution, a motion for self-dissolution may be initiated by at least 30 deputies and must be approved by no fewer than 60 members of parliament.

Once the Jogorku Kenesh is dissolved, there is a period of 40 to 65 days within which early elections must be held. The vote could take place as early as November of this year. Citizens will elect deputies to the Jogorku Kenesh for its eighth term.
