Kazakhstan Sees Increase in Oil, Gas, and Power Production

Oil and gas production, along with electricity generation, in Kazakhstan has significantly increased compared to last year. The figures were shared by Minister of Energy Yerlan Akkenzhenov at a government meeting, reports Orda.kz.

During the reporting period, oil production reached 49.9 million tonnes — an increase of 11.6% compared to the same period last year. By the end of this year, oil output is expected to total 96.2 million tonnes, which is 9.7% more than in 2024,
said Akkenzhenov.

Export volumes also grew. Since the beginning of the year, Kazakhstan exported 39.6 million tonnes of oil, up 11.9% year-on-year. The Ministry forecasts total oil exports for 2025 to reach 70.5 million tonnes.

Positive results were also recorded in the gas sector. Natural gas production totaled 34.6 billion cubic meters, or 102.6% of the volume from the same period in 2024.

Domestic consumption of marketable gas stood at 11.5 billion cubic meters. Gas transit through Kazakhstan reached 35.7 billion cubic meters, an increase of 8.5% over the previous year.

From January to June, Kazakhstan produced around 7.6 million tonnes of petroleum products — 10.8% more than the same period last year. The output of petrochemical products reached 382,000 tonnes, marking a 12.5% increase.

Additionally, electricity generation totaled 62.2 billion kWh — up 3.3%. Of this, 4.2 billion kWh came from renewable energy sources, representing a 7.2% increase.
