Kazakhstan May Extend Petroleum Products Ban

Kazakhstan plans to limit the export of several oil products outside the EAEU, Orda.kz reports.
Amendments to the joint order of the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Finance, the National Security Committee, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs have been published for public discussion on the Open NPA platform.
To introduce, from January 1, 2025, for a period of six months, a ban on the export from the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan outside the customs territory of the Eurasian Economic Union of light distillates, jet fuel and diesel fuel, gas oils, toluene, xylene, and petroleum bitumen, the document inicates.
However, exceptions are provided, such as the export of fuel in car gas tanks, the export of aviation fuel for scientific and research purposes, and the supply of certain types of petroleum products as part of humanitarian aid by the government's decision.
The draft amendments will remain under public discussion until December 10, 2024.
A ban on the export of certain types of fuel from Kazakhstan outside the EAEU was previously introduced by a joint order of the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Finance, the National Security Committee, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs on September 29, 2024, to prevent a shortage on the domestic market.
