Minister of Internal Affairs Yerzhan Sadenov commented on Bauyrzhan Alenov's appointment as Vice Minister of Internal Affairs amid a high-profile homicide in Talgar, Orda.kz reports.
At the time of Sherzat Polat's death, Alenov was the head of the Almaty region police department.
First of all, he didn't just come and take the Vice Minister's seat, as you said. The Ministry of Internal Affairs has a personnel reserve system, and the person you're talking about is an experienced officer who has been in the reserve for a long time. The decision is not made in one day. He was nominated, and the corresponding decision was made,Sadenov emphasized.
The Minister noted that the timing of Alenov's appointment was coincidental.
However, according to him, this coincidence should not raise questions about the personnel decision-making process.
It so happened that he was appointed recently. Unfortunately, the crime happened. This is not good, of course, but such crimes happen here. It is important that in this case there is liability, and the crime was quickly solved, he added.
Sadenov also reported that the investigation into the killing of Sherzat Polat is ongoing.
The standard investigation period is two months but can be extended if necessary.
