The traditional pre-New Year meeting of the CIS leaders will be on December 25, Orda.kz reports, citing TASS.
The Supreme Eurasian Economic Council meeting will be on December 26.
The press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov spoke about the event:
This is a traditional pre-New Year event. Despite its informal status, as a rule, it is a very good opportunity to once again synchronize watches on all current issues, to conduct bilateral contacts on the sidelines, which all leaders, as a rule, utilize, the press secretary said.
Vladimir Putin is expected to summarize the results of Russia's chairing the CIS at the summit. The meetings will be held in narrow and expanded formats. Informal communication and a cultural program are planned.
The Eurasian Economic Union's (EAEU) leaders, including Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan, will discuss the EAEU's functioning and the further deepening of integration at the summit.
The President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, and the head of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, have already arrived in St. Petersburg.
Earlier, during a state visit to Kazakhstan, Vladimir Putin invited Qasym-Jomart Toqayev to the pre-New Year CIS summit.
