The wife of Yernar Zhiembay, the man suspected of attacking Shymkent Deputy Akim Ruslan Berdenov, has spoken publicly about the situation, Orda.kz reports.
On May 27, Luiza Aldanova, Zhiembay’s wife, shared a post on her Instagram account. She wrote that the past month had been an immense challenge for her family and expressed gratitude to those who supported them during this difficult time.
We are only now coming to our senses. Every minute, every hour, every day we were worried, wishing Ruslan Berdenov well. We recently learned that he had completed treatment and returned home. We wish him a speedy recovery and return to duty. Everyone who knows my husband Yernar, me, and our parents well knows that we are simple people for whom family always comes first. They also know that we would never permit ourselves to do bad things. And yet, Yernar made a mistake,
she wrote.
Luiza Aldanova emphasized that she views the situation as a trial of fate and is approaching it with calm and composure.
She also denied speculation that she had any involvement in the incident. Initial reports suggested the motive may have involved alleged harassment by Berdenov:
“My upbringing and faith would not have allowed me to even think about such a thing.”
The armed attack on Ruslan Berdenov occurred on April 21. The official was shot as he exited the Akimat building. The suspect was identified as Yernar Zhiembay, a former subordinate of the deputy Akim.
Previously, Zhiembay’s father had asked that his daughter-in-law not be involved in the matter.
