According to ministry spokesperson Aibek Smadiyarov, consular consultations were promptly held following complaints, Orda.kz reports.
There were some reports, we are processing each one. Consular consultations were immediately convened. Our representatives from the consular service department flew to Georgia for direct negotiations with the local side. We asked straightforward: what is happening? Why is this so?
Smadiyarov stated.
He said the Georgian side acknowledged the incidents but emphasized national security concerns.
They said that there were indeed some cases, but this was due to measures to ensure national security. Perhaps our citizens — tourists, students, guests — were caught in this wave,
he added.
Georgian authorities have promised to strengthen oversight of border and customs officers to prevent further issues.
There will be a very serious conversation with those who are the first to meet foreign citizens. A mutual understanding has been reached, and if there are more cases, we will consider each one individually,
Smadiyarov said.
He noted that the number of deportation cases involving Kazakhstan's citizens remains low.
Earlier, travelers reported facing difficulties at the Georgian border.
