Darhan Satybaldy Appointed New Almaty Akim

Darhan Satybaldy has been officially appointed as Almaty's new Akim, succeeding Yerbolat Dosayev in this role, Orda.kz reports.
As the new head of Kazakhstan’s largest city, Satybaldy is tasked with continuing major infrastructure projects, improving the urban environment, and addressing the daily needs of city management.
In addition, he will need to focus on implementing the President's recommendations and directives that were previously addressed to the former city leadership.
Hailing from Saryagash, Satybaldy holds a PhD in Economics and is fluent in Kazakh, Russian, Uzbek, and English.
His career spans from diplomacy to regional governance. He has served in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Presidential Administration, and the National Security Committee (KNB).
He represented Kazakhstan in Uzbekistan, was the Akim of Shymkent, a member of the Senate, and from 2022 to 2023, served as the head of the Turkistan Region. Until his recent appointment, he was the First Deputy Chief of the Presidential Administration, overseeing regional affairs.
