AZAL Plane Crash: Kazakhstan to Send Black Boxes to Brazil for Decoding

cover

The black boxes from the Embraer plane that crashed in Kazakhstan's Mangystau region will be sent to Brazil's Center for Investigation and Prevention of Aviation Accidents (CENIPA), reports Orda.

This decision was made by the commission investigating the incident, led by Transport Minister Marat Karabayev.

The choice to send the black boxes to Brazil was guided by recommendations from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and consultations with aviation authorities in Azerbaijan and Russia.

Brazil was selected because it is the country that manufactures aircraft. It has the necessary technical expertise and a certified laboratory for data analysis.

As a member of ICAO since 1992, Kazakhstan follows the international standards outlined in Annex 13 of the Chicago Convention. These standards assign responsibility for analyzing black box data to the investigating state, which can choose the most suitable country for the task.

The investigation is being closely monitored under the personal supervision of President Toqayev.
