Armenia and Iran to Hold High-Level Talks on Peace Progress and Regional Stability

Armenia and Iran plan to hold high-level consultations on August 12 to discuss progress in the Armenia–Azerbaijan peace agreement and broader regional stability, Orda.kz reports, citing News Armenia.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei told a Monday press conference that the goal is to gain a clearer understanding of developments and convey Iran’s position and concerns to Armenia.

Tehran has always maintained close and constructive relations with South Caucasus countries, especially Azerbaijan and Armenia, he said. 

Baghaei stressed that Iran values friendly ties based on good-neighborliness and mutual interests, and maintains contact with both states on issues directly or indirectly affecting the country.

Pashinyan Briefs Iran’s President on Washington talks

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan held a phone call with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, his press secretary Nazeli Baghdasaryan confirmed.

Pashinyan shared the outcomes of recent talks in Washington, highlighting opportunities a peace deal between Armenia and Azerbaijan could bring to the region.

He emphasized that regional transit routes will operate under the principles of territorial integrity, sovereignty, and jurisdiction of the countries involved, and based on reciprocity.
