The Asset Recovery Committee under the Prosecutor General's Office has filed another lawsuit against Timur Kulibayev, one of Kazakhstan's wealthiest people, Orda.kz reports, citing Nege Aqsha.
According to information from the online judicial resource, the case is being considered in the appellate court, so it may be a continuation of the long-running dispute between the oligarch and the committee.
The lawsuit was sent to a judge for consideration on November 18; no other details are available.
In the spring of 2024, Timur Kulibayev filed several lawsuits against the Asset Recovery Committee of the Prosecutor General's Office.
In April, the Astana Civil Cases Judicial Collegium rejected three of the oligarch's lawsuits. At the same time, the Asset Recovery Committee declined to disclose what specific property was in question. The department cited legal provisions prohibiting the disclosure of state secrets.
Meanwhile, investigative journalists have published an extensive article about how foreign oil corporations have been helping Timur Kulibayev profit from Kazakhstan's natural resources for years.
