President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev expressed condolences to the family and friends of the famous writer.
Mukhtar Mukanuly was a remarkable master of words who greatly contributed to the development of Kazakh literature and history. He dedicated his efforts to enriching the spiritual life of our people and deepening their understanding of the past. His works of art, historical works, essays and memoirs resonated deeply with readers. The enduring legacy of Mukhtar Mukanuly, who lived a life of dignity and left behind a wealth of creative legacy, will always be remembered by our people, Toqayev's telegram says.
Magauin passed away at the age of 84. He spent the last year of his life in the United States.
