India has already halved its imports of Russian oil, a White House official told Reuters, though Indian sources say the reduction has not yet been observed, Orda.kz reports, citing Reuters.
Meanwhile, two Indian refineries have purchased 4 million barrels of Guyanese crude oil from Exxon Mobil, according to Reuters trade sources.
Reuters The deliveries are expected by late 2025 or early 2026 and mark the first major imports from the South American producer.
Indian officials have previously spoken of diversifying energy imports and increasing purchases from the U.S., especially following comments by former U.S. President Donald Trump asserting that India would stop buying Russian oil.
