Toqayev Receives Vagit Alekperov

President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev met with PJSC Lukoil shareholder Vagit Alekperov, the former President of this company, Orda.kz reports, citing Aqorda.
The Head of State discussed with Vagit Alekperov the progress of joint projects in the energy sector. The President was informed about the results of the company's work and its plans for the near future. During the meeting, promising areas of cooperation of mutual interest were considered, the presidential administration said in a press release.
The President noted that developing cooperation with Lukoil and other large companies would help modernize the energy sector and strengthen Kazakhstan's economic potential.
Vagit Alekperov is one of Russia's wealthiest and most influential oil businessmen. In 2023, his fortune was estimated at $20.5 billion.
One project that Toqayev and Alekperov may have discussed is the development of the Kalamkas-Sea and Khazar fields in the Caspian Sea.
