Talgar Residents to Choose Akim

The Central Election Commission of Kazakhstan announced that the Talgar City Akim election will be held on December 15. On the same day, elections for rural Akims will be held in several regions, Orda.kz reports.
In the Qostanay region, residents will vote for new Akims of Novonezhinsky rural district of Auliekolsky district, Prigorodnoye village of Zhitikarinsky district, Belozersky rural district of Qostanay district, Sevastopol rural district, and Mayak village of Sarykolsky district.
Elections will be held in the rural districts of the Ulytau region: Algabas, Yegindinsky, Mibulaksky, and Shenbersky.
Akim of Talgar Bakhyt Kurishbekov and his deputy Matan Sagyndyk were dismissed from their posts for improperly performing their duties.
This happened after the killing of 16-year-old Sherzat Polat, committed on the night of October 4. The homicide caused a response among Talgar residents.
Later, Sherzat's father claimed to have been threatened, and two days later, his house burned down.
