Tajik and Iranian Officials Discuss Defense and Security Cooperation

Tajikistan’s Minister of Defense, Emomali Sobirzoda, met with Iran’s Defense Minister Aziz Nosirzoda and the Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, Ali Akbar Ahmadian, on April 15, Orda.kz reports.
The Tajik government has not disclosed details of the discussions, according to AsiaPlus.
IRNA, meanwhile, reports that the talks between Sobirzoda and his Iranian counterpart focused on strengthening bilateral defense cooperation, as well as efforts to combat terrorism, extremism, illegal arms trafficking, and organized crime.
Reports also indicate that during the meeting with the Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, emphasis was placed on enhancing cooperation in politics, defense, economy, and overall security.
