Thirty-four disassembled drones, a DJI Mavic quadcopter, and several UAV wings were intercepted while being transported from Kazakhstan into Russia, Orda.kz reports.

According to the Russian Federal Customs Service, the equipment was hidden in a Gazelle van bound for  Bashkortostan.

Customs officers in Samara stopped the vehicle and uncovered the cargo.

Among the items seized were dozens of FPV drone kits equipped with cameras for live streaming, two “Klyuch-Fortuna” FPV wings, and a reconnaissance drone.

The cargo documents did not mention drones, and the driver told officers the equipment was for personal video recording.

However, customs officials stated that the scale of the shipment was inconsistent with personal use and could pose a security risk.

Based on preliminary consultations with an expert, it was determined that two of the devices are fixed-wing UAVs, capable of carrying loads weighing up to five kilograms; one UAV is a reconnaissance type; and the kits can be assembled into 32 small-sized aircraft, the design of which allows for the release of cargo, the Russian customs service explained.
The entire shipment has been seized, and the materials have been sent for further examination.

The investigation is ongoing.
