A memorial complex built with private funds to mark the 140th anniversary of the Alash Orda figure, writer, and poet Mirzhaqyp Dulatuly, was demolished near the village of Petrovka in the North Kazakhstan region.

The news was reported by historian Zangar Kerimkhan, Orda.kz confirms.

The monument — 28 meters in height — was due to be unveiled on September 27. It featured modern engineering design, a symbolic falcon at its peak, lighting columns, and a commemorative plaque.

However, shortly before the ceremony, organizers discovered the entire structure had been torn down.

According to Kerimkhan, the destruction was carried out under orders from regional authorities.

According to the monument's creators, the Akimat of the North Kazakhstan Region sent equipment, cranes, and workers who began to tear down the memorial. They broke and dismantled the symbolic falcon figure at the top, the lampposts surrounding it, and the memorial plaque. Why? What was the purpose of this?

The historian claims regional akim Gauez Nurmukhambetov and his deputy Zhusip Zhumagulov opposed the scale and symbolism of the monument, believing it was improper to erect such a large structure in honor of Alash leaders.

"This complex isn't just a memory of Mirzhaqyp. It's a tribute to all the leaders of Alash — Alikhan, Akhmet, Zhakhansh, Mukhamedzhan, Smagul," Kerimkhan wrote on his Facebook page.

Kerimkhan is demanding that the akimat rebuild the monument and proceed with the opening ceremony as originally planned.
