The mansion formerly owned by Karim Massimov, ex-head of Kazakhstan's National Security Committee (KNB), has been put up for auction in Astana with a starting price of nearly 1.9 billion tenge, reports Orda.kz.
The Asset Recovery Company announced the electronic auction on February 10, scheduled for February 25 on the E-Qazyna platform. The property, located in Astana's Nura district, Karaotkel microdistrict on Yereymentau Street, includes a residential house with a basement level.
The mansion spans 2,800 square meters, with 347.2 square meters of living space, and sits on approximately one hectare of land. The estate features extensive amenities, including a library, karaoke room, VIP guest room, disco bar, billiard room, tea room, gym, storage areas, and even a hair salon.
The auction includes 879 items of movable property, ranging from furniture and electronics to luxury items.
Notable pieces include two collector's pens (valued at 628,600 and 575,200 tenge respectively), collectible gold and silver coins (some worth between 1.2 and 3.1 million tenge each), and decorative weapons including swords, knives, daggers, and a katana.
One of Massimov's sabers is valued at 1.3 million tenge.
The property photos in the auction documentation match those released by KNB in March 2022, when Massimov's assets were confiscated following his treason case.
During that time, authorities discovered $17.2 million in cash and luxury items, including elite watches, gold bars, and antiques.
The auction's starting price is 1.883 billion tenge, based on a May 2023 valuation. Interested bidders must provide a guaranteed deposit of 117.9 million tenge.
Last summer, Massimov's request for pardon was denied.
