KNB Detentains Suspects in Extremism
KNB officers detained five people on suspicion of religious extremism. Another 17 are under travel restrictions, Orda.kz reports.
According to the National Security Committee, five defendants were detained in Almaty, Almaty Region, and Ulytau Region. Another 17 people whom law enforcement suspects of involvement in religious extremism are under travel restrictions and cannot leave the country.
Of those named, four had previously been convicted of committing extremist crimes, and nine had been given official warnings about the impermissibility of participating in the activities of a banned organization, the Committee reported.
During the searches, the suspects were found to have banned literature and other material evidence.
The KNB did not specify what exactly.
