KNB Anti-Corruption Agency Investigates Officials in Turkistan Region

The KNB's Anti-Corruption Agency is investigating several officials in the Turkistan Region, according to details provided by the National Security Committee, Orda.kz reports.
Investigators found that the head of the Department of Public Development, together with a subordinate, allegedly embezzled 191 million tenge. The funds had been allocated for employee salaries.
However, according to the investigation, they were misappropriated by the officials.
In a separate case, the head of the Veterinary Service Department is suspected of offering a 16 million tenge bribe to members of a commission in exchange for a favorable conclusion during a financial audit.
By court order, both civil servants have been placed in pre-trial detention. No further details of the cases have been disclosed.
According to the website of the Turkistan Region’s Department of Public Development, Yerlan Kuzembayev is listed as the department’s head.
