Kazakh and Russian Officials Discuss Energy Cooperation and Oil Transit

Adviser to the President of Kazakhstan, Magzum Mirzagaliyev, and Minister of Energy, Yerlan Akkenzhenov, held talks with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, Orda.kz reports.
The discussions focused on energy cooperation and increasing the volume of transit oil supplies.
During the meeting with the Kazakh delegation, Novak emphasized the importance of bilateral relations between the two countries.
Relations with Astana are one of the priorities of Russia's foreign policy. Despite the ongoing external pressure from the West, Kazakhstan confirms its status as our closest ally and strategic partner,
Novak said, as quoted by the Russian government press service.
The parties also discussed joint energy projects, including Russia’s involvement in building three coal-fired thermal power plants in Kazakhstan and ongoing repair work at the Yekibastuz GRES-2 power station.
Additionally, the Russian side raised the issue of increasing Russian oil and gas transit through Kazakhstan.
Other topics included Russian companies' participation in oil projects within Kazakhstan and possible cooperation in peaceful nuclear energy and the banking sector.
