The arrival of legendary actor and martial artist Jackie Chan in Almaty has been confirmed by former deputy akim Maksat Kikimov, Orda.kz reports.
Rumors about Chan’s presence in the city surfaced on social media the previous day, after photos and videos showed him disembarking from a business jet and being greeted with a traditional chapan.
Today, Kikimov, now president of the Nomad Wrestling promotion, posted a photo with Chan.
His films not only entertained us but also inspired people to stay active, play sports, and believe that anything is possible. Many first discovered sports by following his example. We thank you for an era of incredible movies that continue to give strength and motivation to millions,Kikimov wrote in his post.
The reason for Chan’s visit remains unclear. Some speculate he may be attending the September 30 match between “Kairat” and “Real Madrid.”
Kikimov’s mention of Salem Entertainment in his post, however, suggests the visit could be tied to a film project.
On September 25, Chan was also spotted at the Shymbulaq resort, enjoying the autumn scenery.
