Head of Qyzylorda Energy Supervision Detained for Bribery and Illegal Business Dealings

The investigation believes he received profits from the region’s subsoil users, Orda.kz reports.
The head of the territorial department of the Committee for State Energy Supervision and Control under the Ministry of Energy in Qyzylorda has been detained on suspicion of corruption.
According to a July 25 statement by the Anti-Corruption Service of the National Security Committee, he is suspected of abuse of office and illegal entrepreneurial activity.
Investigators allege that the official set up a systematic scheme to extract material benefits from local subsoil users.
A criminal case has been opened under paragraph 3 of part 4 of Article 362 (“Abuse of power or official authority”) and part 1 of Article 364 (“Illegal participation in entrepreneurial activity”) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The court has ordered a preventive measure in the form of detention.
Further details have not been disclosed in accordance with Article 201 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
