Kyrgyzstan's security forces have detained four individuals in Osh on charges related to the recruitment of mercenaries, according to Orda.kz, citing Azattyk.
Among those arrested are a municipal official and an employee of the Russian House, a cultural institution affiliated with Rossotrudnichestvo.
The arrests, which occurred late last week, became public knowledge only recently. Journalists have identified two of the detainees:
- Sergei Lapushkin, a staff member of the Osh mayor's press service
- Natalya Sekerina, an employee at the Russian House in Osh
Both individuals are accused of recruiting citizens to participate as mercenaries in the war against Ukraine.
Azattyk notes that cases involving Kyrgyz nationals who have fought in Ukraine on behalf of Russia have garnered significant attention in the country.
