Fighting Hybrid Threats: What The Special Operation Forces Will Do

The Special Operations Forces were created by Presidential Decree in January 2022. Now they are being equipped with weapons and equipment, as well as training personnel
Deputy Defense Minister Sultan Kamaledinov spoke about how the Special Operations Forces are being equipped with weapons and other equipment at a briefing.
"The commander of the troops has been appointed, the formations and units that are part of the Special Operations Forces have been identified. Measures are being taken to ensure them and equip them with appropriate pieces of military and other equipment, as well as training of personnel is being carried out,"

Colonel Bolat Zhurabayev was appointed Commander of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of the Republic.
The representative of the Department of Strategic Development, Colonel Alpamys Utepov, added that at the moment these units are being built up and coordinated. Special operations forces have been trained and the government has approved funds for their technical equipment.
"The main tasks of the Special Operations Forces are countering hybrid threats to military security, combating illegal armed formations and assisting in anti-terrorist operations. At the moment, to strengthen this structure and for joint actions, a presidential decree was issued on December 7, which clarified the new structure of the armed forces. In accordance with the decree, amphibious assault troops were withdrawn from the ground forces. At the moment, technical equiping is underway,"

RMB: A meeting was held under the chairmanship of President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev on January 15. The Secretary of the Security Council was subsequently instructed to accelerate work on the creation of special operations forces and submit concrete proposals for reforming the national security system. The President stressed the importance of preventing violations of citizens' rights during the anti-terrorist operation and conducting investigative actions.
