The Saryarka NAN plant, previously owned by Yerlan Nigmatuli, is shutting down production, Orda.kz reports.
Yerlan is the brother of former Majilis Speaker Nurlan Nigmatulin.
According to a company statement, the bakery will halt operations on December 15, 2025. Shareholders decided to close the facility after demand for its products sharply declined.
The plant is currently running at only one-third of its design capacity.
The company emphasized that it will fulfill all obligations to partners and state bodies:
Employees will receive severance payments of up to four monthly salaries, depending on their length of service. More than 50% of the chain’s retail outlets are expected to continue operating, and they will work with other bakeries in the region.
A new industrial operation for the repair and production of mining equipment will be established on the site, creating jobs and generating tax revenue for the regional budget.
Saryarka NAN also thanked residents of Qaraganda and nearby areas for their support, saying that together they had “created an important part of the region’s bread history.”
Ownership History
The Saryarka NAN Qaraganda bakery was founded in 2015 by Bakyt Serikbayeva.
In 2017, Yerlan Nigmatulin joined the list of founders.
By August 2020, Nigmatulin briefly became the plant’s sole owner. Four months later, he sold or transferred the factory to Vladislav Ogay, the 33-year-old son of oligarch Eduard Ogay, listed by Forbes.
