Azat: Sherzat Polat's Father Detained at Relatives' Request
On December 10, Nurganat Gaipbayev, Sherzat's uncle, was buried in the village of Azat. Many gathered to attend, Orda.kz reports.
As the Almaty PD press service reported, Nurganat Gaipbayev's relatives demanded a fair investigation at the funeral.
Sherzat Polat's father, Karzhaubay Nurymov, climbed onto the roof of a truck with a knife and threatened to kill himself.
The man, in an unstable mental state, was detained by the police. He was behaving aggressively.
He made threats to those around him and also attacked a police officer with a knife. His behavior was inappropriate and posed a threat to both himself and those around him. At the request of his relatives and lawyers, in order to prevent harm to his life and the lives of those around him, police officers detained him using the minimum necessary force,
the Almaty Region Police Department commented.
He was taken to the police station; psychologists are working with him.
The police continue to work to calm the situation and urge citizens to remain calm, the department said.
The body of Nurganat Gaipbayev, Sherzat Polat's uncle, was found on the outskirts of Talgar on December 9.
