Environmental specialists have conducted air sampling in multiple locations across the city, Orda.kz reports.
The testing aims to determine the exact source of the unpleasant odor detected at night by residents, as well as to carry out monitoring and a comprehensive air quality analysis based on the collected data.
Samples were taken from the sanitary protection zone of the Atyrau Oil Refinery (near Proparka station) and the northern industrial zone, which includes facilities such as KazTransOil, West Oil Software, Karachaganak Petroleum Operating, and the Caspian Pipeline Consortium.
Studies have been conducted on hydrogen sulfide, dioxide, and mercaptans, and analytical work has begun. We will publish the results of the studies on air quality and take appropriate measures, said Sapar Tursynbekov, head of the Department of Ecology for the Atyrau region.
The department emphasized that the initiative aims to enhance public oversight and encourage city residents to participate in addressing environmental issues.
