An investor plans to begin cultivating hemp in the North Kazakhstan Region, Orda.kz reports.
At a government briefing, Deputy Agriculture Minister Azat Sultanov clarified that the crop will be used exclusively for industrial purposes and will contain no narcotic substances.
The range of products is quite broad — from paper goods to oil. But since only industrial hemp cultivation is permitted in Kazakhstan, there will be no narcotic content. The main product is expected to be high-security paper. This will be a strong export item — used for producing identity documents, passports, and other official forms,
Sultanov said.
The Ministry of Agriculture has not disclosed the name of the investor behind the project.
