The head of the US State Department's Western Hemisphere diplomatic service, Brian Nichols, discussed this in an interview with O Globo, Orda.kz reports.
Journalists interviewed Nichols during his stay at the G-20 summit, which is currently taking place in Rio de Janeiro.
In particular, the representative of the US State Department was asked whether such a decision by the US would not lead to further escalation. Brian Nichols responded by recalling that the war began with Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
The weapons that President Biden has authorized Ukraine to employ will increase its ability to defend itself and perhaps force the Russian Federation to understand that using force to seize Ukrainian territory will not succeed. Perhaps this will push it to negotiate peace or, best of all, to withdraw its troops from Ukrainian territory entirely, he added.
