Kazakhstan’s Qarmet and China’s Dadi Engineering Development (Group) Co., Ltd have signed a long-term cooperation agreement to modernize coal enrichment facilities, Orda.kz reports.
The deal was concluded in early July during First Deputy Prime Minister Roman Sklyar’s visit to Guangdong.
Dadi will act as the industrial partner, providing tech solutions, equipment, and expertise. The focus is on implementing dry coal beneficiation technology to boost efficiency and environmental performance at Qarmet’s coal plants.
In March, Dadi expressed readiness to tailor the project to Kazakh coal deposits. A technical team visited the site in April, agreed on specifications, and presented a draft plan. Commercial and engineering terms are now under discussion.
Founded in 1995, Dadi operates in over 10 countries, including the U.S., Australia, and South Africa, specializing in coal mine design and upgrades.
Qarmet is also advancing other strategic projects: building a gas pipeline to the plant, constructing coke ovens No. 8 and 9 (1.5M tons/year), and developing a casting-rolling complex and rebar mill to replace imported products.
