President Toqayev Marks Birthday with Characteristic Modesty

Today, May 17, is President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev’s birthday. As in previous years, the head of state will not celebrate the occasion — no official ceremonies or public events are planned, Orda.kz reports.
The Aqorda press service had informed the public in advance, stating simply:
"The President does not celebrate this date."
Born in 1953 in Almaty, Toqayev has never regarded his birthday as a festive or special day.
On his 70th birthday, the President also chose to forgo any official receptions or celebrations.
